All with citations. In my experience, the Learning Cards are much more complete than MedBullets and other bullet-style resources, plus include great images, videos, and other resources in a very complete review. You can also save Favorite Learning Cards to review later in bulk. It is arguably and probably empirically more difficult than UWorld.
This can be stressful at first, especially with timed Exam Simulator running. However, this may be a good thing. It will train you to better utilize your time on the real exam, and the added difficulty may be a great tool to boost your game before test time.
Each quiz is also ended with a suggested Learning Cards list to review the material you answered incorrectly, and has a significant answer explanation.
The percentage chosen for each question that displays after you make your choice, similar to UWorld demonstrates that there is a bit of a learning curve. However, this is also likely due to the free trials that have been given out like candy for months.
Not everyone utilizing the qbank is actually at a stage in their studies they would get these questions correct. Needless to say, as a newer and still growing company it is not perfect. Attending Tips: When you answer incorrectly or correctly as well an Attending Tip will pop up to give an important clue to the question. Though not always useful, sometimes these tips can clarify a simple misunderstanding or fill in a piece of useful information. There are a few limitations in Exam Simulator mode that they are working on, such as color inversion. However, these features have been requested.
If you reviewed the previous postyou will know one of my favorite non-qbank aspects of Amboss is the pricing scheme. There is also a 30 day money-back guarantee, so no need to worry about paying for the product and not liking it. Even if you have used other codes in the past, this should still work.
They will hopefully have Step 1 material coming out within the next year or so as well, and it can be used at that time if that is where you are in your academic career. If you like my blog please use the links to buy any books on Amazon or services Picmonic, OnlineMedEd as I receive a small referral fee that helps me keep this blog up and running!
Still the gold standard when it comes to practice questions. There is no way around it. You can read the message boards on Student Doctor Network and they all reiterate what I find to be true.
Some students will argue that UWorld and a review book are the only resources you need for step 2 CK and for the most part that is true. I completed UWorld in its entirety once.
Then I completed all of the questions I got wrong which was nearly half of them. I highly suggest it. Just like step 1, a major advantage of Kaplan to UWorld is that they tell you exactly where this topic or subject is located in the most popular review books. I took step 2 during the second week of my first elective rotation in cardiology. So the bulk of my serious step 2 studying was done during my 8 week surgery core and subsequent 4 week surgery elective.
I took a practice test and I did terribly. Like embarrassingly bad. And my worst subject was surgery. I had completed all of the UWorld surgery questions and ran through them all a second time.
My friend suggested I try pre-test and I loved it. You can finish all of the UWorld or Kaplan questions for the smaller subjects like psych and pediatrics quite quickly. I highly suggest using this resource for in between lectures, after you finish a specific section of UWorld, or if you just want more high quality practice questions. Just beware that they are not NBME format.Rdo sul mepa fornitura derrate alimentari per i nidi dinfanzia
So I would shy away from them when it comes closer to test day. NBME is the gold standard because they are written just like the real test.

You have to use these wisely because there are only a limited number of them. Additionally, I believe that it is worth the ten extra dollars to purchase the expanded feedback. This option grants you the ability to see which questions you got wrong. You are given full UWorld style explanations of each question, both the questions you get correct and incorrect alike. The purpose of doing practice questions is to find your weaknesses in order to guide your study process and to get you inside the head of question writers. Hopefully, you figured this out already since you most likely already took step 1. However, I found studying for step 2 CK to be more difficult than step 1 because of the other obligations that MS3 requires.

Amboss combines a large question bank with an equally comprehensive Library feature that contains point-by-point breakdowns of the topics covered by questions. More than just a multiple choice question bank, the student can actually choose how deeply they want to delve into the topic. By doing this, students can compare the parts of the vignette they highlighted to what Amboss recommends should be highlighted.
This can be helpful for students who struggle with picking out the most important parts of a section. The question bank itself contains appropriately complex questions, and often has more answer choices than in UWorld: the average seems to be about six choices, but eight is not uncommon.
The former option highlights the most relevant portions of the question stem, while the latter provides additional information directed at the correct answer.
The explanation Amboss provides about the correct answer is thorough, and includes pictures if necessary. For instance, a vignette about a thyroglossal cyst had a picture of a congenital neck mass embedded within the explanations as well as picture of an incorrect answer choice cystic hygroma. This is helpful because the students can see how the two different neck masses can present; not only is it useful for the shelf, but seeing the pictures can be helpful for the wards.
The library is a feature with content about the basic sciences step 1clinical knowledge CKclinical skills Step 2 CSand chalk talk. Each of the libraries for this section includes a comprehensive outline of the specific topics covered. For example, the basic sciences section has topics that are outlined by discipline or by system. Then within each topic, the content is further broken down.
For instance, for 1. The formatting of the content within each section is in paragraph form, rather than bullet form. The content is displayed on a white background with black and gray font, which in my opinion is actually a bit dull. It is good for content review but I prefer something more attention-getting for lengthy study sessions. The analysis feature is useful because it shows the session timeline, results, progress, and study recommendations. The analysis also shows how long the student took to answer a question, which can be helpful to students struggling to finish blocks on time.
There is an option to look at the study summary, which can be for the entire length of having an AMBOSS account, for the previous 6 weeks, or for the previous 2 weeks. Based on this summary, the study can receive study recommendations. I did not do enough questions to have an example of a recommendation to comment on this more specifically. There are feedback forms all throughout the platform so that users can comment on both good and bad things about a particular feature.
This is appealing to me because it keeps the content active and if there is ever an issue with the accuracy of an explanation, the student can immediately report it and Amboss will look into it further. Amboss is an excellent resource. The only downside is that it is not as firmly established in the U. Brus-Ramer and Dr. Rubin, and an administrative team dedicated to our students' success.

Make Every Clinical Rotation Count. Proper preparation for shelf exams during rotations is key to establish a solid foundation for Step 2 CK.
This can be challenging because what you learn on the wards may not have any relevance to how you are assessed on the shelf. If you think about it, what you see and are taught on the wards is essentially random. To do well on these exams, you need a comprehensive foundation, which in my case was built using UWorld and OnlineMedEd videos.
Master a Few Key Resources. A significant number of students use too many resources without reviewing any of them in sufficient depth.
All the content you need to master for Step 2 CK can be found in the UWorld explanations, and OME is a great way to learn that content in a more efficient way. In addition to mastering content, test-taking technique is crucial for USMLE success, and unless you have the option of tutoring, the only way to hone these skills is through practice questions. About five days before my exam, what had started out as a pesky dry cough turned into acute bronchitis. For such an important exam, the change fees were money well spent, and ultimately everything worked out. The boards can cause extreme anxiety.

Typically, the exam is taken once medical students have completed their foundational sciences in their second year, before their clerkships. Generally, the Step 1 exam will cover these traditionally defined disciplines: anatomy, behavioral sciences, biochemistry, biostatistics and epidemiology, microbiology, pathology, pharmacology and physiology. It also touches upon these interdisciplinary areas: genetics, aging, immunology, nutrition and molecular and cell biology.
The test is administered at any of several Prometric computer testing sites. Step 1 is a one-day exam. It is divided into seven minute blocks and taken in one 8-hour testing session. Each block will usually not exceed 40 questions, and the entire exam will not exceed questions.
